Your Hosts

Robert Todd has enjoyed a multifold increase in popularity in part as a result of his hosting and lecturing at Regionals and Nationals. Bridge cruisers love his clear, concise delivery and easy-going approach. Robert won the inaugural 0-10,000 Knockout Teams (“Mini-Vanderbilt”) at the Dallas NABC. Don’t miss an opportunity to set sail with him.

Andy Avery became a Life Master in 1974 and has been featured in bridge articles such as Alan Truscott’s column in the NY Times and recently in Frank Stewart’s nationally-syndicated column. Andy firmly believes that a strong knowledge of the fundamentals of bridge is more important than concentrating on conventions which require more memory but do not occur very often. Andy is a super-talented country music performer. We hope he brings his guitar and plays for us.

The Itinerary

Aug. 27 - Los Angeles (depart 5PM). Sunshine, majestic palm trees, and sandy beaches share the spotlight with LA’s glamorous movie industry and world-famous celebrities. Aug. 28-29 - at Sea (Baja California)
Aug. 30 - Puerto Vallarta (10:30AM-5PM).
This charming seaside town offers traditional Mexican culture with a modern twist. Second only to Acapulco when it comes to the Mexican Riviera’s leading resort cities, Puerto Vallarta is embraced by rugged tropical mountains on one side and the lovely Banderas Bay on the other. The city brims with life, with its bougainvillea-lined cobblestone streets, picturesque alleyways, luxury hotels and smart boutiques. Shop for leather goods, as well as shell and silver jewelry, hand-embroidered blouses and painted figures from Oaxaca.
Aug. 31 - at Sea
Sept. 1 - Huatulco (9AM-4PM). Nestled along the sun-drenched Pacific coast, Santa María Huatulco enchants with its nine pristine bays, golden-sand beaches, and vibrant local culture. Carefully planned and developed by Mexico’s tourism department, Huatulco has it all, including ecotourism attractions such as river rafting, rappelling and jungle trail hiking as well as an 18-hole golf course and some of the best resort hotels on the southern coast.
Sept. 2 - at Sea
Sept. 3 - San José (Puerto Caldera) (11AM-9PM). Explore Caldera, Costa Rica's bustling port town, nestled between verdant rainforests and the dazzling Pacific Ocean, offering a gateway to adventure, culture, and breathtaking natural wonders. Find your Zen in one of Latin America’s most peaceful and relaxing countries. Greet locals while absorbing the superb scenery and irresistible weather and cuisine.
Sept. 4 - at Sea
Sept. 5 - Panama Canal transit
Sept. 6 - Cartagena (11AM-11PM). A kaleidoscope of color, rich in cultural heritage and old-world charm, Cartagena offers up a mix of Spanish colonial architecture, lively music, and mouth-watering cuisine. She is celebrated as the queen of the Caribbean coast, and given the shimmering lagoons, bays and stunning sea that surround her, it’s easy to see why. Cartagena’s beautifully preserved Old Town is a UNESCO World Heritage site.
Sept. 7-8 - Cruising the Caribbean Sea
Sept. 9 - George Town, Grand Cayman (8AM-5PM). Uncover the charms of George Town, where white sandy beaches, turquoise Caribbean waters, and a vibrant, multicultural atmosphere create an unforgettable tropical escape. Grand Cayman boasts endless beaches that are encircled by coral reefs teeming with an abundance of marine life. On shore, affluent colonial neighborhoods dominate the West Bay area, while the East End affords natural attractions such as spectacular blowholes and fragrant botanical gardens.
Sept. 10 - at Sea
Sept. 11 - Miami (9AM-6PM). A dynamic coastal hub with a lively fusion of culture, beautiful beaches, vibrant nightlife, and colorful architecture. As famous for its Art Deco Historic District as for its beach bodies and international style, Miami is unapologetically fabulous. Admire the full glory of Miami Beach with a stroll along South Beach’s famous Ocean Boulevard, where splendidly restored art deco buildings compete with fashion models and sun worshipers for attention.
Sept. 12-13 - at Sea
Sept. 14 - New York (arrive 8AM).
