Itinerary
Oct. 10 - Depart Athens, Greece. Occupied since 3000 BC, Athens has a rich history intended to be unearthed by all who visit. Hadrian's Arch, the Temple of Olympian Zeus, and the Theater of Dionyssos, famed as the finest concert hall in
Greece, must be explored. Another "must do" is to tour the interior of
the Acropolis and museum.
|
|
Oct. 16 - Port Said, Egypt. On the northern end of the Suez Canal, this vital port city of aged houses and grand balconies is a gateway to Cairo, Giza plateau and the unparalleled wonders of ancient civilization: the Pyramids of Giza, the
Sphinx, the Egyptian Museum, the Nile River, the "Hanging Church,"
Al-Azhar Mosque and the Citadel
|
Oct. 11 - Mykonos, Greece. Few places in the world compare with Mykonos. Here you'll find
whitewashed houses clinging to cliffs against a backdrop of
indescribably blue sea. Follow a maze of tiny streets or visit one of the
world's most superb beaches.
|
|
Oct. 17 - Alexandria, Egypt. Alexandria is Egypt's second largest city and its largest seaport.
Known as The Pearl of the Mediterranean, it's found by many
to have an atmosphere and culture that is more Mediterranean than
Middle Eastern. In ancient times, Alexandria was the capital of
Greco-Roman Egypt; today, it's a city synonymous with commerce and
sophistication.
|
Oct. 13 - At sea.
|
|
Oct. 18-19 - At sea.
|
Oct. 14 - Haifa, Israel. The roots of this city, on the slopes of the Carmel Mountains, can be
traced back to 4th century B.C. Its five religions-Islam, Judaism,
Christianity, Druze and Bahai-form the city's social fabric. Gaze in
awe at the Bahai Temple and its breathtaking gardens, which sprawl from
the top of Mt. Carmel into its foothills.
|
|
Oct. 20-21 - Sorrento, Italy. Found on Italy's famed Amalfi Coast, the city of Sorrento is set atop
some of the Mediterranean's most breathtaking cliffs. Close to Pompeii
and a short boat ride to the must-see Isle of Capri, this quaint city
will no doubt leave you wanting to return.
|
Oct. 15 - Jerusalem, Israel. Jerusalem is only a short ride from the port city of Ashdod. Perhaps the holiest city in the world, Jerusalem is a place of overwhelming emotions. Visit the Old City, the Western Wall, the Dome of the Rock, the amazing Israel Museum and the moving Yad Vashem. Walk through the market, experience the sights and sounds of the new and the old.
|
|
Oct. 22 - Rome, Italy. Rome is nothing less than spectacular! Visit the Roman Forum, Trevi
Fountain, the Pantheon, Piazza Navona; you might also want to see the
interior of the Colosseum. Be sure to take in the Vatican City, St.
Peter's Basilica, the Vatican Museum, the Sistine Chapel, and the
interior of St. Peter's Square. The Eternal City has much to offer and
your time here will be simply unforgettable. Opt for a post-cruise stay to enjoy even more.
